Girls’ Day Out!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

I know what you’re thinking … you’re wanting to know all the news from the cat show that Lula and Annie went to yesterday, aren’t you? Well…. it’s a good job I’m here to tell you! 😆

So, like normal, it was an early start to the day – Lula and I were in the big bed and didn’t want to get up when the hoomins rudely awoke us – who wants to eat breakfast at 4am? 😯 It’s a good job the others left some for me to eat later is all I can say 🙂

Once everyone was preened and cleaned, it was time for Lula, Annie and the hoomins to set off, leaving us four boys to look after little Friday, though she says she’s old and wise enough to look after herself! 😀

After a short detour to pick up Sue our breeder and vet for the show, they made their way up North to Preston. It was quite nice, dry weather until just before they reached the venue, when it decided to rain quite heavily – typical British weather! 😆

It was therefore a mad dash into the building to get through vetting in, which they both of course passed with flying colours and then into the show hall itself! Daddy got Lula and Annie settled in their pens whilst mummy had to brave the horrible weather again and unload the car of all the trade stand equipment and products!

A couple of hours later, the stall was set up, Annie and Lula were snoozing in their pens and morning judging started so all the owners had to leave their cats and let the judges do their thing! 🙂 Luckily, though, and for the first time ever, Annie’s pen was opposite mummy’s stall, so the hoomins could keep an eye on her all the way through! 🙂 She was very well behaved and made them both very proud 🙂 Lula was a few rows away, so she could only be heard and not seen – ha ha! (don’t tell her I said that, will you? 😆 )

Then, after an impatient wait, the results started to trickle in, and again made my mummy and daddy very proud of their girls! Here’s the full lowdown 🙂

Lula was unplaced in the Olympian class, which wasn’t really any shock as it’s the toughest class in the show; but she did win Best of Breed, and in her side classes, was first out of two in one; 3rd out of 7 in another and unplaced in the other – pleasing results! 🙂 She got a nice aqua-coloured rosette “Olympian Contender” which we think is a lovely touch to recognise the achievement of even being in this class. And her Best of Breed rosette was fun too, it’s a special Easter Bunny themed one! 🙂

Lula – wanting to chat to the neighbours 🙂

Now over to Annie…

She was awarded a Master Cat certificate, which was her third, which in turn means she has now earned the title of Master Cat! She then brilliantly beat two boys to win Best of Colour – these two boys were far more qualified than her: one was a Grand Master Cat and the other was an Olympian Silver Imperial Grand Master Cat! 😀

The great results continued in her side classes: She came first out of four for “Cat with the glossiest coat”; first out of seven for “Cat with the most unusual pattern” but “only” second out of seven for “Prettiest Exhibit” What?? That judge clearly has no taste (though he absolutely loves Spike, he’s the judge who gave him first in his tough class at the Supreme).

So Annie was just one placing away from having a “red card day” – being first in all her classes, and winning Best of Colour 🙂 But even so, I’m sure you will agree, they are results to be proud of and she just charmed everyone she came into contact with and drew lots of admirers when the show was opened to the general public 🙂

Then, after a busy day on the stall too with lots of lovely customers, everyone was tired and it was time to pack up and make the journey south back home.

We greeted them with lots of head bumps and kitty kisses and loudly told mummy it was way past our dinner time! (or at least I did!). So we all had our favourite pouch and a little run around the cat garden in the dark and then it was time for more catnaps before bedtime 🙂

The next show is in two weeks, though on Sunday rather than Caturday, which is always very confusing 🙂 It’s a double show, with Spike entered in both shows – he’ll be competing in the Grand classes for the first time so will be judged against a few other breeds to try and earn the Grand certificate. I will of course let you know how he does as soon as I can! 🙂

Take care my friends!

Love from Spot
