So Proud of Spike at the Cat Show!

Hello my friends, Spot here!

So as I told you all yesterday on our Facebook page, I’m writing my blog a day later than normal as my mummy was too tired to help me yesterday after being at the cat show all day 🙂 And talking of my mummy “helping” me, I just want to clarify something here… my mummy made me write that title 😯  I know that the male Pesky did well at the show, but to me he is still a Pesky and I am not all emotional about things like the hoomins seem to be, but my mummy said young Spike did very well and we should all be proud, so that’s what I have begrudgingly written 😆

It was another early start to the day as these things always are… Lula and I stayed in the big bed and watched all the comings and goings of the hoomins rushing around to get things all organised. Annie watched from the top of the kitchen units whilst the moggies all ate their breakfast 🙂

A few minutes before their departure, mummy got the carrier out ready to put Spike in and then carried on with getting ready. Then it was time to go! But wait! Where was Spike? My mummy looked in all his usual sleeping places but couldn’t find him anywhere! So she was a little bit worried as she had been outside putting things in the car, so maybe he had sneaked out when she wasn’t looking? 😯

After a few minutes of further searching, daddy who was upstairs whilst this was going on called out to mummy that maybe she should look in the carrier? And there he was – laid down with paws crossed looking up into the opening as if to say: “Aren’t you guys ready yet?” 😆 So mummy zipped up the carrier, put him in the car and they were soon ready to go! 🙂

Once in the car, the hoomins expected Spike to be very noisy as this was the first time he had travelled anywhere on his own. And they weren’t wrong – they started to drive away and he miaowed very loudly! But then …. he stopped! And he was very quiet for the rest of the journey (and also on the way home too). What a good boy 🙂

They arrived at the show without any problems, and soon Spike settled into his pen

Settling in

This was a double show and Spike was entered into both, so he had two chances of earning his Grand Premier certificates 🙂 And the results came through quite quickly! 🙂 Here they are in detail:

Show 1

Grand Premier Certificate awarded

Best of Breed awarded – beating 3 other wonderful brown spotty Bengals, all of whom were more mature and have more titles than Spike does!

First place in one of his side classes, and second place in the other. This second place meant that he fell just short of a “red card” day (where you get first in every class you’re in + Best of Breed)

Show 2

Grand Premier certificate awarded, but not BoB

First place in both side classes entered 🙂

So being as he didn’t get BoB in this show, again it was just short of a red card day.

Spike took this all in his stride and just sat back and admired all the rosettes he’d earned 🙂

Chillin’

After every show, the judges usually publish a report online about what they thought of your cat. Usually they take a few days/weeks to do this, but the judge who awarded Spike’s BoB and first in a couple of his side classes, has published her report already and, amongst other things, she said that Spike is “A gentle handsome boy” and “a pleasure to handle”. How lovely! 🙂

So a good day was had and when they got home we all had some nice food and yummy treats and some play time in the cat garden 🙂 Then it was time for a well-earned cat nap 🙂

Later on this week, I’ll be writing my blog on Sunday as usual, and this just also happens to be the Peskies’ first birthday! So I think a little look back over the year might be the subject matter, so please come back and join us then! 🙂

Take care my friends!

Love from Spot

  1. What a good boy you are being kind to the male Peskie. I think you are secretly proud of him too Spot <3 Well done Spike. Wonderful results 🙂

    1. Thanks very much, my friends 🙂 We hope Holly and Poppy Bengals are feeling better soon <3 <3 xx

  2. So pleased! Mommy us going to have to buy a box just for Spike’s ribbons! Such handsomeness and sweet personality together! Btw, Mommy my email seems to keep dropping off the comment area and I have to renter it rather than it appearing automatically. No big deal but maybe you could get it back up, Spot!

    1. Hello Carol! Thank you for your lovely comments 😉 I’m not sure what that problem is with your email so I’m not sure how to fix it, I’m sorry 🙁 x

  3. How nice were those comments by the Judge!? You should be thankful that the male Pesky is doing so well as that means there’s no pressure for YOU to go back to showing Spot! Spike is so laid back that I’m sure he’ll be happy to continue the fine tradition of bringing home rosettes and ribbons 🙂 Thanks for sharing Spike’s wonderful day with us, Sir Spot The Handsome! ♥♥♥

    1. Purrrrrrrrr 🙂 My mummy is good to me, she wouldn’t make me do something I didn’t really like 😉 Besides, I have to stay home and look after all the others when they are out. Perhaps not Robbie as he looks after himself 🙂 xxx

  4. I love your blogs Spotty and you’re a very good boy to have written that headline. Didn’t he do well though, it looks as if Spikey’s going to go far, he’s so handsome and well behaved at shows. What beautiful rosettes he won, they’d look lovely on the wall of your Mummy’s office!! Thanks for all the info Spotty, you do a tremendous job xx <3 <3

    1. Thank you, Edna my friend! 🙂 I can be a good boy when I want to be (plus, my mummy bribed me with some nice chicken treats to write that headline 😆 ) It’s quite difficult to find a product that allows you to display lots of rosettes on a wall… so for now they will all be put away in my mummy’s nice new storage boxes, along with all the others 🙂 xxx

  5. Well done Spike, what a lovely boy you are. You’re a good boy to your brother Spot. Glad you all had a good day. xx

  6. Spot, I’m sure you really are proud of young Spike’s Show career, after all, he is following in your footsteps isn’t he. It’s a pity you don’t enjoy the Shows now but you do a great job of looking after things at home while the babes are off strutting their stuff. Mum would never insist on you doing anything you didn’t want to and who’d want a reluctant entrant anyway. Be happy that the peskies are doing so well.

  7. Awwww Spike was really a good boy! To begin with he helped mum and dad to get him into the carrier =D and then he earned all lovely rosettes! You was a very good boy Spike. But then again so was you Spot, taking care of things at home ;). Love to see your blogs!

  8. Very well done Spike!! 🙂 Spot, I’m sure deep in your heart that you are very proud of “the peskys”. . .after all, you would want them to carry on the BCW tradition — right??? 😉 love and prayers for all at BCW. . . I luv ya!! ♥♥♥
